Well, that had to happen at least once...

We were in town fairly late today because some friends had just returned from Alexandria. We were going to take the 11 o'clock bus back to campus. We saw a bus that belonged to us drive by, waved at it...it waved back but did not stop. So we sat until midnight. And the midnight bus said it was not going to New Campus, only to Tahrir Square. So we finally ended up in a cab that didn't know that way and took way too long to get here. But finally I am home! And I'd hate to not have to rough it back to campus at least once this summer. So there's something else crossed off the list...

  1. Did you see any Ramses-types hiding in corners, waiting to save you from sudden and terrible abduction? (I'm ever hopeful. If you just hang out with these American kids you're going to break a lot of hearts and not have any children. Sigh.)

  2. Sorry, Dad. Kim's friend that we met was, in fact, Arab. And I have a story I should tell you about a bus driver...

  3. Oh, that's almost hilarious if it weren't nearly dangerous. Next time you wave at your bus and it waves back without stopping, how about sprinting after it screaming, "Hey, Mr Funny Driver! We were not just keen on waving! Getting into that bus was more like it!!"

  4. It's possible the bus was going somewhere else...we have sprinted after buses before without much luck. We were in a big group, so we were fairly safe.
