"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"

We had quite the adventure getting to Dahab. The 5 o'clock Wednesday bus we were planning to take was completely full when we got to the station. We managed to get seats on the 1 am bus Thursday. That meant we had several hours in Cairo...and we had all of our luggage. We left a bit of stuff at the station (which they weren't supposed to do), but couldn't have done a lot of crazy tourism stuff. So we headed to City Stars, had a good dinner at Wagamama, and saw "Harry Potter." It was phenomenal. I think it may be my favorite of the movies. Which is funny, given it's one of my less favorite books.

  1. We saw Harry on Saturday. I thought it was well done, but the rest of the crew (M,M & Chris) were disappointed by the lack of a final big battle scene to which all were looking forward.

  2. Silly people. It's not about the battle scenes, it's about Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Ron was wonderful. I also thought the boy/girl interactions in this one were well done (and refreshingly like real young teenagers, instead of sexy 20 year olds).

I thought the changes from the book (other than burning down the Weasleys'- what the @#$ was that?) were reasonable for a film.

  3. The Weasley house was REALLY weird. I think they may have done it when they realized the final battle wasn't happening...
I was expecting a battle. It seemed rather pointless for the whole gang of Death Eaters to come in and then not do anything...

  4. That, I believe, is what Chris, Mark, and Marcy were complaining about.

  5. Yes, it was silly for Malfoy to spend all this time getting in the death eaters so that they could... um... go torch Hagrid's Hut?

Kendall sez it's because the next movie will end with a climactic battle, and they didn't want to do two in a row. But... won't the next movie end somewhere in the middle of book 7?
