Two months in Cairo, a year's worth of Arabic, and a very happy girl.
Marhaban! (Welcome!)
Summer 2009, I will be studying abroad in Cairo, Egypt as a student in the American University in Cairo at their Arabic Language Institute. Egypt is known as "The Mother of the World." Join me as I meet my mother at last!
It's an Italian place, actually. I generally just chill. The rest of the gang smokes cheap sheesha. I did get some tomato and mozzarella once, and their pasta is really good. It's a cheap, informal hang-out place.
(Sheesha is...I don't know how to describe it. It's a social smoking thing that's flavored with things like grape, melon, mint...I don't really know. I stay out of it.)
What does one eat at the favorite cafe on the Nile?

ReplyDeleteOh, good grief! WHAT is sheesha? I am really out of it, I guess, but I think that is appropriate for grandmothers.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wanted to wish you a happy week-end as you journey to marvelous places. Enjoy!
Granna
Thank you, Granna!
